India Clinches Third ICC Champions Trophy Title with Thrilling Victory Over New Zealand

Dubai. Team India emerged victorious in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final, defeating New Zealand by four wickets in a thrilling contest at the Dubai International Stadium. This historic win marks India’s third Champions Trophy title, making them the first team to achieve this feat.

Chasing a competitive target of 252, captain Rohit Sharma led from the front with a commanding 76, while Shreyas Iyer (48) and KL Rahul (unbeaten 34) provided crucial support. India sealed the victory with six balls to spare, capping off an exceptional tournament run.

Earlier, New Zealand posted 251/9, powered by Daryl Mitchell’s 63 and Michael Bracewell’s resilient half-century. India’s spinners Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each, applying pressure in the middle overs, while Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with key breakthroughs. Despite a late surge from Bracewell, New Zealand fell short of setting a higher target.

This triumph continues India’s dominance in the tournament, following their previous wins in 2002 (shared) and 2013. Throughout the 2025 edition, India remained unbeaten, securing victories over Bangladesh, Pakistan, Australia, and New Zealand twice.

With this victory, India cements its legacy in ODI cricket, showcasing a blend of experienced leadership and emerging talent. The team now sets its sights on future international challenges, carrying forward the momentum from this landmark win.
